Abstract
With the onset of frequent climate-change related disasters like floods and wildfires, organizations and society at large increasingly feel the need for disaster preparedness. This is one area where the armed forces appear to be ahead of private and public organizations with contingency plans for sea-level rise and other challenges of temperature increase around the world. One factor hindering more widespread adoption of disaster preparedness is the lack of a sound theoretical basis for organizations to base their disaster strategies on. This paper develops a theoretical framework for incorporating disasters within the broader are of change management in organizations and society at large.
