Abstract
This paper analyzes how Information and Communications Technologies (ICT) influence the academic training of Colombian accounting students. This work highlights the importance of an active role and the development of critical thinking that answers to social troubles. Nevertheless, there is no evidence of the implementation of the new technologies in the academic curriculum, for this reason, it is necessary to adopt new educational approaches that answer the needs of the students. Also, the research aims to contribute to the limited Colombian literature in this ambit. The work can help to determine critical points about the urgent need to adopt in the accounting curriculum the new challenges of the profession. First of all, it was developed as a documentary review, and then through the devices of recollection of information, it is elaborated as a quantitative analysis of the data, looking for statistical trends. The devices are tagged in the surveys for the students, the interviews for the professors, and the logs about the application of the experimental exercises in the classes. The sample is made up of 600 students and 45 professors from 15 Colombian universities.
