Bringing Social Justice Through the Decolonization of the Syllabus

Abstract

This workshop will discuss the relevance of bringing social justice to any subject through the decolonization of the syllabus. The presenter will share some of the tools and activities used to decolonize the syllabus using Ethnic Studies Pedagogy, Decolonial Pedagogy, and Sentipensante Pedagogy in the university classroom. Examples of student work will be shared. A significant portion of the session will be used to engage in questioning and discussion with participants interested in building on the ideas, networking, and resource sharing.
