Community and University Partnerships: Preparing Students for Practice During Covid-19

Abstract

The signature pedagogy of social work education in the United States is the internship or practicum experience at a community agency. Due to COVID-19, course instruction, and in some cases the practicum experience, is being done remotely. In response to the need for remote learning, community partnerships have led to creative learning opportunities for students. This study examines policy changes, the role of community relationships, creative remote learning opportunities, challenges, and lessons learned during the time since the pandemic altered the learning environment.
