The Effect of Play on Performance of Children in Day Care Center


Play is one of the expected components of children’s activity of everyday living. When children enter preliminary center for schooling, normally they will be introduced into reduced playing time or learning associated with play. This study tries to explore a new strategy that mediates in the understanding how children learn mathematics better in a way that they will be able to express whether they understand the lesson or not. Also, it attempts to discover the effectiveness of play in children under normal schooling. This paper investigates the comparison of the effect of play depending on the level of difficulty of the lesson. Participants of this study were the students of Brgy. 731 Zone 80 Day Care Center –Manila .The study ran for a month, the first intervention was made after the teacher taught the children numbers one to five (1-5), then the second was after the numbers six to ten (6-10). The processes of intervention were: presenting the pre-test, then intervention, lastly the post-test. Experiment intervention was all about play, which includes storytelling, find your partner, group yourself into (1, 2, ..) and pop the balloon. The play conducted were similar to the context of the pre-test and post-test. The results shows that there was a change in the score of the children in their number performance in a non-directional manner, where it shows that the effect will not specifically state the positive and negative result.
