Description

Catherine Cullen was Deputy Mayor for Culture for the City of Lille, France, from 2001 to 2014, in which capacity she oversaw Lille European Capital of Culture in 2004. For over ten years she was a Board member of the Culture Committee of United Cities and Local Governments (UCLG), its President for four years (2012-2015), and she is presently its Special Advisor on Culture in Sustainable Cities. In 2016, she joined the UNESCO Panel of Experts for the International Fund for Cultural Diversity (IFCD) and in 2018 became its Coordinator. In 2018-19, she was part of the European Union’s High-Level Panel of Experts for the Horizon 2020 Strategic Research and Innovation Agenda (SRIA) on Innovating Cities; in 2017, she joined the Multi-Actor Advisory Board of the European H2020 ROCK programme (Regeneration and Optimisation of Cultural Heritage and Knowledge Cities), and is currently a member of the Advisory Board of the Horizon 2020 4CH programme. In January 2022, she became President of ScenOgraph, a national cultural project in a rural area of South West France. For many years she has been an independent international consultant in culture and sustainable development, a subject she teaches at the EDHEC business school in Lille, France.
