Thematic-based Itineraries of Egyptian Cultural Heritage as a tool for Promoting Cultural Tourism and Attracting More Indian Tourists: An Applied Study on Cultural Thematic Routes

Abstract

The possibility of using cultural thematic routes as a tool for promoting cultural tourism in Egypt and attracting more Indian tourists as well as utilizing the unexploited resources in the less known destinations are key points on which this research focuses. The study seeks to find an appropriate answer to the following questions: Can cultural thematic routes be used as a tool for promoting cultural tourism assets In Egypt and attracting more Indian tourists? Can cultural thematic routes be used as a tool for promoting a number of less known destinations to be added to the touristic map of Egypt? How can Egypt benefit from the experience of the other countries which managed to make full use of cultural thematic routes in promoting its cultural tourism? Objectives of the study are: 1- To explore the current status of cultural tourism in Egypt and define the main challenges facing this tourism style. 2- To make full use of the experience of other countries which managed to use cultural thematic routes as a tool for promoting cultural tourism 3- To diversify the cultural tourism products in Egypts to be able to attract large number of Indians. 4- To provide an action plan which aims at the revival of cultural tourism in Egypt through the diversification of the cultural tourism products; and the attraction of a large number of Indian tourists.
