Dr. Steffen Lehmann, Full Professor of Architecture & Urbanism, University of Nevada, Founding Director, Interdisciplinary Urban Futures Lab, CEO, Future Cities Leadership Institute, USA

Dr. Steffen Lehmann (born in Stuttgart, Germany) is based in London and Las Vegas. He is the Full Professor of Architecture & Urbanism and former director of the School of Architecture at the University of Nevada, USA. He is founding director of the interdisciplinary Urban Futures Lab and CEO of the Future Cities Leadership Institute. Previously, Steffen has been Executive Director of three architecture schools, as head of school in Las Vegas, Perth, and Brisbane. He has been a full professor since 2002, and has taught, researched, and practiced architecture for over thirty years; he defines all three as one activity.

Steffen graduated from the Architectural Association School of Architecture in London in 1991, and in 2003 he completed a Ph.D. in Architecture and Urbanism at the Technical University in Berlin. He is an ambassador of sustainable design principles and former holder of the inaugural UNESCO Chair for Sustainable Urban Development in the Asia-Pacific. Before establishing his own multi-awarded practice, Steffen Lehmann Architekten + Stadtplaner GmbH, in 1993 in Berlin, he worked with Pritzker Prize–winners James Stirling in London and Arata Isozaki in Tokyo. Steffen became a licensed architect in 1993 in Berlin with the aim to pursue a more ethical practice. In 2021, Steffen co-founded the global design firm si_architecture + urban design with studios in Dubai and Barcelona.
