Abstract
After the recent terror attacks on different states and cities in India, the whole scenario of tourism has changed, and has made people look for alternative forms of tourism. In recent decades, tourism has developed so much that it had crossed all boundaries, and resulted in various forms which were never thought to be recognized as a part or structure of tourism. One such form, which is slowly and steadily expanding, especially in India is “Agriculture Tourism.” Today, it is being observed that visitors or tourists want to venture for some peaceful moments to these nondescript villages and unheard of locations. Taking part actively in the daily operations of the farmers is an interesting activity for most of the urban people today, and that takes the shape of Agritourism. Most people in the industry simply describe Agritourism as the crossroads where agriculture and tourism meet. It only makes sense that we link these two industries to boost the bottom line for agricultural producers, and to help place rural Indian communities for tourism markets. My research mostly focuses on the perception of the tourist for such a niche area, and their expectations regarding the same. A small part of the research also focuses on whether the farmers or the host population are ready for the ever challenging expectations of becoming tourism entrepreneurs.
