Health Problems Faced by Elderly inmates’ in Central Prisons India

Abstract

The ageing of the population is a global phenomenon. Almost every country in the globe is seeing population growth as well as an increase in the percentage of people aged 65 and more. Many studies have been undertaken on this topic, but only a few of them had an impact on the Indian population. The health treatment of inmates is a crucial and necessary aspect of any prison’s operations. The core of jail health services is primary care. In today’s society, there is a pressing need for reform in the jail system. Prison reform has been taken seriously on a global scale. The colonial Prisons Act of 1894 continues to govern the Indian jail system. To address the evaluated needs of the prison population, prisons should also provide health education, patient education, preventive, and other health promotion initiatives. Good health and well-being are essential for successful rehabilitation and resettlement, and this necessitates a health-promoting atmosphere in each jail. In India’s prison system, there are health issues. Finally, the document finishes with the author’s recommendations and conclusions based on the findings of this research.
