The Homeland Detachment of the Iranian Innovative Class: A Case Study of Iranian Software Developers

Abstract

For nearly half a decade, Iranians have faced troubles, either military wars or economic ones, political upheavals, and a lack of citizenship rights. Meanwhile, the stages of reviving hope and periodic economic instability are evident throughout post-revolution history. An idiosyncratic state in which theocracy and governmental hardship market regulatory role play go hand in hand, besides a multi-cultural nation that both have a high opinion of science and the growth of technology cannot fulfill the demands of the ambitious Iranian youth generation. Consequently, the innovative class has decided to detach themselves for a brighter future, neglecting their homeland due to sociopolitical restrictions and uncertainties. We aim to index the causes of the shocking emigrational wave among Iranian tech professionals based on interviewing of immigrant programmers.
