Professional Profile of Social Work Graduates Facing New Challenges in Ecuador

Abstract

It is necessary to review the professional profile of graduates of the social work degree in light of the new challenges that Ecuador faces due to the changes that humanity has been undergoing, technological advances, the creation of new areas of work. Current needs that are reflected in the professional practice of a professional in Social Work in Ecuador, added to this globalization, technological changes lead to social inequalities. All these aspects prompt this review and insert us into a challenge of generating new collective proposals that integrate the perspectives of the culture of our country. That is why special emphasis has been placed on higher education, especially in the social work career, since the changes within the curriculum must adhere to the needs of the national context and regional. This is necessary to train professionals with the capacity to respond to the needs of the country as well as confront the complexity of social and cultural issues - and to empower individuals, groups and communities to achieve true economic, social and cultural development, forging an equitable nation, respecting the environment in which the human being is involved. This essay determines the profile of social workers today. This work is based on a bibliographic study. It is intended to contribute to the knowledge of the reality of the professional profile of social workers, as well as to know the demands in a world of work within public and private companies in the Ecuadorian territory.
