Examining Immigration Officers’ Practices

Abstract

The examining procedures conducted by the officers in charged of the Bureau of Immigration at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) has been the issue among the travelling Overseas Filipino Workers, backpackers, vacationists and the like for almost a decade. This paper elucidates the mandates and guidelines of the immigration officers in conducting interviews and interrogations to those who are leaving the Philippines for work and vacation overseas. Quantitative and qualitative methods of research were utilized in collecting data to analyze in order to produce a greater result. The findings show that most immigration officers failed to conduct proper screening to the outgoing passenger based on their mandates and guidelines.
