How Blockchain Technology Can Enhance Educational Skills and Structure a New Era in Learning

Abstract

Blockchain technology is a decentralized network technology in which the same data is recorded and maintained on multiple nodes (computers connected to a network) that are geographically isolated from each other. They allow network users to freely and securely transfer licenses to each other without the need for a well-established relationship of trust. The transfer is done in such a way that the destruction or violation of programs and data is prohibitively difficult. It is mainly used in finance with online currencies such as bitcoin, but can be exploited by services of all kinds. Lately blockchain technologies have been of particular interest, on the occasion of their association with cryptocurrencies. Much is heard, both positive and negative, with a pervasive skepticism on the subject. However, these technologies have much broader applications than cryptocurrencies. Their dynamics are such that they can evolve into an important component of the global data and digital service infrastructure, introducing new models into distributed and collaborative applications, as well as data sharing and management.
