A Paradigm Shift in Pakistan-Turkey Relations Post 9/11

Abstract

This thesis explores the relationship between Pakistan and Turkey during the post 9/11 period, as foreign policy of both states have begun to change substantially during that period. Although before the 9/11, the two Islamic powers had developed close ties, the developments after 9/11 changed their perceptions and behavior and brought them further closer. The terrorist attacks jolted the entire world and brought a somewhat “paradigm shift” in every state, where Islamabad and Ankara were no exception. In order to answer the question, why did the paradigm shift occurred in Pak-Turkey relations during post 9/11, This study argues that the shift is due to security and strategic interests developments.
