Complexity of Modern Knowledge for Emergent Interdisciplinary Innovation Capacities : A New Applied Science Doctoral Program for Interdisciplinary Innovations from Individuals to Society

Abstract

When a new concept is defined with more precision than before, it gets clarity, provides new opportunities and new knowledge with a diversity of consequences for progress. A new interdisciplinary doctoral program in Applied Science is presented in the framework of theoretical and applied complexity. The PhD program is a new tool of higher education as an emergent property from the interdisciplinary interactions between the diversity of disciplinary modern knowledge. The program concerts natural, social, and human perspectives to innovate new products and services based on scientific and technological knowledge with high added valued to improve, impact, and evolve human quality of life in a coherent and sustainable manner. More than looking for and interdisciplinary solution of a chosen problem involving various disciplines, this PhD program in applied science is a method to define and solve complex and pertinent problems by building and taking advantage of modern interdisciplinary science and technology.
