Bridging Boundaries: A Transdisciplinary/Integral Approach to Learning

Abstract

Preparing young people for global uncertainty, accelerating change and unprecedented complexity needs a curriculum and way of teaching that focusses on local and global issues in need of attention and resolution using an action-oriented approach to learning, and one that goes beyond the school “boundary.” That is an approach which is at once between the disciplines, across the different disciplines, and beyond all discipline. In this session, we will discuss this approach and the goal of the understanding the present world in terms of two of the imperatives: the unity of knowledge and the confidence to be active for positive change.
