Journalism - a Risky Profession in Pakistan

Abstract

The purpose of research is to analyze the problems of journalists during investigative reporting. Journalists are not satisfied with their jobs due to security issues and threats and also their lack of facilities, security and insurance, long working hours, and low scale salaries which effects their family and life. Journalists are very disturbed and it’s difficult to reflect truth and facts due to political pressure, religious groups, feudal system and, military involvement. The survey research design has been applied by using the random sampling technique. The sample size of the research was 150 journalists. The finding of the research have indicated that journalists are facing societal (94.66%), field (92.66%), professional (81.33%) and organizational (82%) issues. The current study is based on journalists of major metropolitan cities of Pakistan. This study provides insights to better understand the problems of journalists and making of policies for better security.
