Dance For Sports: Philosophy and Sport

Abstract

Dance as a catalyst for interdisciplinary work is the focus of this work. The great works of Plato and Kant highlight ethics and aesthetics in society through sport and dance. Plato’s Republic and Kant’s Categorical Imperative are featured in this discussion. Examples from practice based research in dance and sport illustrate aspects of rhythm and harmony.
