Providing Voice for LGBT Populations: Tell Us Your Story

Abstract

The voices project created a safe space where individuals can retell their personal narratives. There were two objectives for this project, 1) to validate the experiences and lives of those who have been marginalized or othered, and 2) to provide feedback to communities about stories they seldom hear. In this project a team of professionals from various disciplines was formed to develop an informed and healthy pathway for individuals to share their experiences. This paper describes the project development including the recruitment of community and professional collaborators, the development of a survey to find members of the LGBTQ+ community willing to share their experiences, and a summary of their narratives.
