Ernst van Alphen is a professor emeritus of Literary Studies and Cultural Analysis. Recent book publications are: Productive Archiving. Artistic Strategies, Future Memories, and Fluid Identities, Seven Logics of Sculpture. Encountering Objects Through the Senses, Failed Images. Photography and Its Counter-Practices, and Shame! and Masculinity. His earlier work on Holocaust, trauma, and affect can be found in his book: Art In Mind. How Contemporary Images Shape Thought, Caught By History, Holocaust Effects in Art, Literature, and Theory, and Staging The Archive. Art and Photography in Times of New media.
