Abstract
The year 2020 will be remembered for the challenges that the pandemic has presented worldwide. And as the virus spreads around the world, numerous educational systems have turned to the virtual world, which comprises a new deconstruction and reconstruction of traditional teaching and learning practices. The current crisis compels us to reflect on new and already known information technologies as critical tools under this educational context. This phenomenological study explored the experiences of rural and urban schoolteachers and parents from southeastern Peru in applying distance learning programs during the pandemic outbreak. Preliminary findings indicated that limited connectivity and, in most cases, minimal access to internet, television, and other technological tools have been major challenges in pursuing an optimal education.
