Narrative Medicine and the Humanities Classroom: Workshop in Building a Narrative Medicine Toolbox

Abstract

This hands-on workshop focuses on equipping participants in the Humanities, particularly in Literature and History, but other disciplines as well, with tools from Narrative Medicine that can deepen experience in the undergraduate and graduate classroom. We practice and then adapt techniques or “prompts” from theater, poetry, and mindfulness practices. Central to the workshop’s unfolding are the interests of the participants and their respective teaching areas.
