Abstract
This paper attempts to show how Virginia Woolf implants in Mrs. Dalloway a plentiful range of experiences from her life. In this paper, I argue that in order to have an ample understanding of a character’s state of mind or behavior, an emphasis should be put, in addition to the text, on the role of the writer’s personal experiences in the elucidation of a literary text. This paper discusses, more specifically, Woolf’s experiences that are linked to Septimus’s.
