Becoming Us: How Invisible Heritage Can Be The Story Of Our Awareness

Abstract

Have you ever find yourself to analyze an area completely erased by human impact and environmental changes started 1000 years ago? Venice countryside appears like this from a geoarchaeological point of view: water, rivers, and men continue to design and re-define new landscapes over the centuries, giving priority to saving Venice from swamping. Thanks to a multidisciplinary approach (disciplines: archaeology, history, and geomorphology) it is now possible to rewrite the story of the present Venice countryside community and the awareness of that place in which today people live. According to critical discourse, this paper aims to explain how the interactions between man and environment can be a way to respond to today changes in humans’ relationship with the environment, as a part of the archaeological community.
