Design of a Thematic Map for a Visual Representation of Electoral Data in Mexico

Abstract

The objective of this research is to expose a visual alternative for the representation of the vote count in the elections in Mexico, through the proposal of the design of a thematic map of the type of hexagonal mosaic to show information with geo referenced variables, in this case, of the three hundred federal electoral districts for the election of deputies. For this cartogram visualization, a topojson format file has been created that can be used in open source and geographic information systems. The project provides a potential for its use by journalistic media, researchers, institutions and other interested entities.
