Causation of Covid-19 Pandemic, Social Globalization, and Epidemic Vulnerability: A Global Perspective Analysis

Abstract

Globalization is an inevitable scenario that is increasing at a swift pace. The most recent global scenario in the form of Covid-19 stuck the world in late December 2019. This study examines the causation of Social Globalization, Epidemic Vulnerability Index, and covid-19 cases ratios in a global perspective from Dec 31st, 2019 till Apr 27th, 2020 (during the first 17 weeks). This study uses the Dashboard data of Covdi-19 concerning demographic ratio, KOF Globalization Index, and Inform Epidemic Risk Index 2020 in global comparative analysis. Results show that more globalized countries are positively correlated with population to covid-19 case ratio while the situation is opposite in the less globalized countries. It is further analyzed that the impact of covid-19 is opposite to the epidemic vulnerability index, the most vulnerable countries are least affected by covid-19. In the end, the study suggested that resource-rich countries should reassess their risk preparedness and health response system with the collaboration of world governing agencies and protect the world from the unforeseen pandemic situation that can severely affect struggling countries.
