Plastic to Oxygen : Journey towards a Green Planet

Abstract

Our globe is under the threat of climate change. Some part of the world doesn’t see the face of sun round the year, some other part is burning with the heat of sun, some are converting to desert, some are flooding. Ice is melting, sea lever is increasing. Coastal areas are under threat of vanishing from the map. We have nothing to do but act immediately. At the age of globalization, climate change also turned into global issue. Considering the situation of my country, our environment is polluting in many ways every day. One of the biggest problems is plastic. Vast use of plastic products is huge threat to our environment. We do not have waste management system like developed countries. To get rid of plastic, we have launched a project called ‘Recycle Bin’. We felt that awareness needs to be built from the childhood. So, we involved school kids in the project. We have installed bin in the premises of few schools, instruction given to kids to put their wastage plastic in the bin. In every three month we collect the plastic and sell it to recycle shops. The money we get from here, we use for tree plantation in those school premises and nearby vacant areas. Tree plantation also done by the school kids. Project outcomes: 1.Protect the community form plastic pollution, 2. Tree plantation creates source of oxygen and green energy. 3. Most importantly, school kids are getting engaged in climate action.
