The Effect of Environmental Management on Human Capital Development and Sustainability of Global Work Ethics

Abstract

The connecting string between environmental management and human capital development has been subjected to discussion when issues of sustaining work ethic in organization development are being discussed. Globally, scholars’ dwell more on work ethics as one of the critical factors that determine performance and retaining quality workforce while sustainable environment which is sine qua non to increase output is hardly considered. Based on the trend in global sustainability process, human capital development cannot stand alone without considering the role of other factors which are critical to it development and one of these factors is the environment in which humans operate from. There is need to have a better understanding of the multidisciplinary interrelationships between environmental management, human capital development, and sustainable work ethic with in a nation and the world at large. The aim of this paper therefore is to provide an overview of how sustainable development, environmental management, and sustaining work ethics are interconnected, with an emphasis on their effect on human capital development.
