Abstract

In recent years, communication has been transformed in an accelerated and versatile way, allowing certain media such as El Espectador and The New York Times, to play a very important role in the constitution of the image of various topics that have happened in the world. However, when talking about narcotraffic, an issue that has not been indifferent to these media due to the high level of impact that has generated in the countries to which they belong, women have not been excluded from this scenario, being perhaps the most visible and represented because of their life stories. Therefore, the main goal of this project is to carry out a comparative analysis of the components of the media coverage between The New York Times and El Espectador, based on the different characteristics, focus groups, transformations, and intentions of the contents related to the representation of Antioquia´s women who has been linked or belongs to the world of drug trafficking. This was done in order to show the contrast in the dissemination of news focused on the affected profiles.
