Abstract
Facing the climate emergency’s socio-environmental challenges requires inclusive, adaptive community outreach. This session emphasizes cultural identity’s crucial role in strengthening community engagement and governance. This workshop leverages our extensive experience from national to local collaborations, focusing on public health initiatives for refugees and immigrants, including pivotal COVID-19 communications. Our unique approach utilizes multilingual cultural navigators from the communities we serve, ensuring our outreach is culturally relevant and environmentally aware, which has significantly enhanced physical and mental well-being outcomes. Attendees will explore over a decade of insights into welcoming, integrating, and empowering culturally and linguistically dynamic newcomers, obtaining a comprehensive blueprint and tools for application within their own communities of action. This session aims to empower attendees to forge more inclusive, understanding communities adept at navigating today’s complexities, with a firm emphasis on health and well-being. Join us to understand how deepening cultural identity awareness can revolutionize community outreach, laying the foundation for a diverse, inclusive future we envision.
