Why DEI Should Advocate for the Formerly Incarcerated

Abstract

DEI is an industry that highlights the discrimination of race, gender, sexual orientation, ableism, ageism, and more in the workforce. One group that is not advocated for is the formerly incarcerated. I discuss some of the obstacles the formerly incarcerated have in finding employment such as stigma, lack of training, and background. I review why the formerly incarcerated are good workers - and why the DEI field should advocate and consider including the formerly incarcerated.
