The Four Disciplines of Ecologically Sound Social Justice: Practicing the Future We Want

Abstract

“I want to live in a fair and just world where everyone is valued equally, and no one has to justify their existence. A world where everyone’s social and emotional needs are met, and all feel safe, seen, and celebrated. We must honor our inherent interconnectedness to all that exist on this planet to create a world that works for us all.” This is my north star statement, the focus of my life and my work; to practice ecologically sound social justice systems in our world. Einstein once said, “In theory, theory and practice are the same. In practice, they are not.” We must practice the future we want with our actions. We must envision it and then practice the values that sustain it before it becomes a reality. Through purposeful practice, we transform from who we are to who we desire to be. The Four Disciplines of Ecologically Sound Social Justice is a practice developed to assist individuals and organizations in the embodiment of ecologically Social Justice values. They provide an essential foundation for the practical integrative application of ecologically sound, social change in all the ways we exist, Intellectually, Emotionally and Physically. The Four Disciplines are: Holistic DEI Values and Integrity Exercising Social And Emotional Intelligence Co-Creating Inclusive Community and A Culture of Belonging Practicing Allyship and Restorative Justice “Action without vision is only passing the time, vision without action is merely daydreaming, but vision with action can change the world.” – Nelson Mandela.
