“State, Adolescence and Teenage Parenting. Do Public Policies Perpetuate Asymmetries in Gender Systems? : Estado, Adolescencia y Parentalidad, ¿Perpetúan las Políticas Públicas las Asimetrías en los Sistemas de Género?

Resumen

This doctoral research project is based on a case study about the parental experience in high school teenagers (women and men, who have been mothers and fathers), in the municipality of Sincelejo. Mainly, this study´s aim is to analyze first, the visible asymmetries within the gender systems and relationships, established by high school parent teenagers during their parenting time, and second, the role played by the Colombian state in these asymmetric gender systems constructions. In order to achieve this study purpose, analysis includes: (i) the teenagers‘ trajectories which shed light on their gender system symbolic constructions,(ii) the Colombian State’s responsibility inside this process, through a historical and documentary analysis of the Colombian sexual and reproductive health and rights public policies, as well as, a specific analysis about the policies implemented by the educational and health public system in Sincelejo, from 1993 to 2019. Finally, this research contrasts these trajectories with the State actions. The main question bears on understanding -under a feminist, decolonial, gender perspective- the role of the Colombian state actions established by the SRHRP in the asymmetry’s perpetuation within the teenager parenting gender relationship.
