Ubuntu - I Am, Because We Are: Belonging in our Beingness

Abstract

Live Zoom Session June 2 at 12 PM CST - Link: https://us02web.zoom.us/j/86309368526 Belonging can be a source of division and also a source of unity. In a world where differences abound, and similarities is how we often create community, we have all struggled at some point in our lives to figure out where we belong. We look for ways to connect with people and often find that the differences play a part in our ability to connect and relate. Belonging is a human need; however, there is a delicate balance that we have yet to discover. Too much emphasis on belonging creates a deep desire to connect on a superficial level. We rely on our expressions of being to connect us to others rather than our beingness. Our humanity is what unites us all in belonging, and it is the piece we have been missing. In this workshop, we consider how humanity, as our focus of belonging, can break the cycle of our history and transform and unite our world. This workshop includes small group work, activities, and closes with a review that expands on the duality of belonging and how to focus on oneness.
