The Relationship between Job Characteristics and Organizational Climate on the Quality of Working Life of Personnel at Faculty of Medicine, Burapha University

Abstract

The purpose of the research is to compare and study the relationship between personal factors, job characteristics, and organizational climate on the quality of working life of personnel at Faculty of Medicine, Burapha University. 224 samples were stratified random sampling from 662 of populations. The tool was a questionnaire. The data were analyzed by using frequency, percentage, standard deviation, t-test, One-way ANOVA, and the comparison of pairs by LSD, Pearson’s product moment correlation coefficient, and multiple regression. It revealed that: 1.The comparison of the opinions in overall of the job characteristics, organizational climate, and quality of work life factors classified by personnel factors found that age groups, type of personnel according to the line of operation and education level were statistically significant differences at .01, .01 and .05. 2. The Job characteristics factors were positive related to the quality of work life in medium level with statistical significance at .01 (r =.594) and the organizational climate factors were positive related to the quality of work life in high level with statistical significance at .01(r =.811). 3. The equation predicting of the quality of working life in personnel with 79% predictive power could be written as the follows: Y = .878 + .220 Progress and development (X10) + .194 Warmth and support (X9) + .137 Control (X11) +.117 Opportunities for participating with others (X5) + .097 Reward (X8). The standard scores form: Z = .329 (Z10) + .260 (Z9) + .197 (Z11) + .151 (Z5) + .156 (Z8).
