Abstract
Workplace diversity is becoming a key focus for organizations and HR professionals. However LGBT+ diversity at work in Italy is not getting enough attention. ISTAT National Institute of Statistics), in collaboration with UNAR (National Anti-Discrimination Office), is conducting a comprehensive research project looking into discrimination against LGBT+ people as well as diversity management policies run by private companies. The project applies a multi-perspective and mixed-method approach, and involves data collection from LGBT+ people, companies and the main national stakeholders (e.g. trade unions, employment category associations, LGBT associations). The aim of this paper is to discuss the theoretical framework adopted in the project to investigate diversity management practices, effective rights and individual and coping strategies of LGBT+ employees from multiple perspectives. This framework is based on a literature review and consultations with experts and the main national stakeholders. Based on first results an agenda for future research and action is offered.
