Abstract
The second-largest Middle Eastern refugee population has settled in a suburb of Southern California. The impact on schools and the community was rapid and jolting. This case study research explores how two school districts in the community are supporting these students and their families in education and through local community social services partnerships to ease their transition into a new culture, academic setting, and the workplace. This case study follows two students and their families in their quest for resettlement and access to services as well as the challenges faced in navigating the American education and social services system.
