Abstract
This paper presents the outcomes of an exploration of the perceptions of tourist accommodation managers towards the principles of ‘climate change mitigation measures’. It evaluates the interest, understanding, challenges, and solutions for the adaption of sustainable climate change mitigation practices from the perceptions of a range of tourist accommodation managers and other key destination management stakeholders in Abuja, Nigeria’s federal capital territory. The key findings reveal that although the accommodation managers and destination management authorities in Abuja have some understanding of the benefits of sustainable climate change mitigation practices, they do not adequately engage in its practices due to a wide range of challenges including the high cost of business operations, and poor power supply amongst others. Thus, the findings of this study have implications for the adoption of strategies aimed at promoting sustainable climate change mitigation practices within the tourism accommodation sector in Abuja, Nigeria.
