Abstract
Rising sea levels results in frequent flooding in coastal communities. Shallow water fishing areas of small gears fish-folk have seen declining productivity due to ocean acidification and pollution from the liquid waste effluent given the unabated urbanization that is expected to increase given the construction of the new international airport. This paper unveils the poverty trap in coastal communities with the set-up of the enterprise that will come out with higher value food products in the process that is carbon neutral, if not minimal in its emission of greenhouse gases, and whose produce has a nutritional quality that is beneficial to the aging population of the province of Bulacan. Mixed methods of research were used in data gathering to come up with holistic and comprehensive results.
