Climate Change: Determinants to the Escalation of Crimes Experience by Filipinos

Abstract

The Philippine archipelago is composed of three major islands known as Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao. The country’s geographical location, which is surrounded by sea correlates the escalation of crimes committed by the locals due to the diverse weather condition that have been previously experienced. Crime is the most common issue that the Philippines is currently dealing with because of the weather conditions. The combination of quantitative and qualitative of research methods were applied to expand and strengthen the conclusion of the study. We consider how theft, rape and physical injury top the most prevalent crimes connected to the effect of adverse weather conditions. The aftermath effect of the diverse changes of weather conditions affects economic status of most Filipino people, which are related to the increase of crime.
