Urban Planning in Climate-Hazard Disaster Management: Tropical Cyclone Disaster Risk Reduction

Abstract

Tropical cyclones are a type of deadly disaster that can cause a major impact so it can pose a high risk to various systems in cities. With this, urban planning can play a key role in every phase (before, during and after a disaster occurs), so it’s very important to integrate urban planning and disaster management. However, there are still few studies that comprehensively discuss urban planning approaches that can be implemented in climate-hazard disaster management to reduce the risk, especially related to tropical cyclones. This study explores urban planning approaches that have been applied in tropical cyclone disaster management to reduce the risk. Qualitative study with systematic literature review is used in this research to carry out a structured review accompanied by predetermined eligibility criteria to minimize bias.
