EU, China, and Climate Change: Human Impacts and the Responsibility to Act

Abstract

The European Union (EU) and China are two of the most dominant economic actors in the world, at the center of the global economy, global trade issues, and other economic indicators. The EU has also now for some years had an ambitious climate change policy, and in recent years China has also developed its own agenda to tackle climate change. In this paper we analyze if both these actors understand the impact and the human consequences of climate change, and how they do respond in relation to this view, and if they understand it as something caused by human being, and thereby have a strong belief that they have the responsibility to act to tackle climate change.
