PPE from an Environmental Perspective with an Ethical-legal Basis for Sustainable Development

Abstract

During centuries, humans have been able to observe the changes of planet Earth due to human interaction, from the natural environment to the species that inhabit it. Humanity has concerns and they need to deal with environmental problems that arise in their living spaces. The main purpose of this research is to analyze the environmental impact of PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) during the SARS-CoV-2 pandemic, and raise awareness about its impact. Its use was necessary and essential to address current public health risks in Mexico and the world. The environmental impact occurs on a large scale, it pollutes public roads and sewers, including city banks, rivers and seas; which translates into repercussions that pollute the aquifers and the air. The most harmful effects on the environment are the lack of foresight and zero control of environmental risks, as well as the permissibility of the rules regulating it. An Environmental Education Plan is proposed aimed at social actors in order to sensitize society and thus minimize the impact on the environment.
