Dynamics of Natural Climate Solutions on Folkloric Heritage-based Livelihoods: Towards Inclusive and Resilient Local Communities

Abstract

Folkloric heritage-based livelihoods (FHbL) activities are increasingly vulnerable to the impacts of climate change in Bangladesh. The Natural Climate Solutions (NCS) can assist local communities in becoming more resilient and safeguarding their livelihoods by effective adaptation policy and planning aligned with SDG 11 and 13. This research aims to understand how NCS could be an inclusive and sustainable adaptation strategy to reduce the impacts of climate change on the livelihoods and the wellbeing of local communities and the planet. Its findings will inform NCS policies and practices related to FHbL. This work follows a textual method with considering content analysis approach. It reviews texts from Google Scholar, ProQuest, PubMed and Science Direct between January 2000 and April 2021. This review-based textual analysis shows a global concern for climatic stressors that cause vulnerability for FHBL at the local level. This paper argues that new theoretical concepts are needed for reducing exposures, enhancing livelihoods resilience, building adaptive ability.
