The Effectiveness of Universitas Terbuka Learning Management System from theTutor's View

Abstract

Universitas Terbuka (UT) as an open and distance university in Indonesia providing learning assistance services in the form of face-to-face tutorials (TTM), online tutorials, webinars tutorials, and tutorials via television and radio. Since the second semester of 2020, due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the implementation of face-to-face tutorials has been replaced with webinar tutorials using the Learning Management System (LMS) as a companion platform. The use of this LMS has generated many responses and complaints, especially from tutors. The formulation of the problem in this study is based on understanding the effectiveness of the LMS according to the perceptions of Universitas Terbuka Mataram tutors. The purpose of this study is to identify the advantages and disadvantages of UT LMS and evaluate UT LMS. The theory used is the United Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology (UTAUT) Model developed by Venkatesh at al. The method used is a quantitative survey using descriptive analysis to determine the desired display characteristics and Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) with the Partial Least Square (PLS) approach to determine the effectiveness of the LMS. The results of this study describe the weaknesses, strengths, and improvements in LMS as recommendations for UT management in order to improve online learning system services from the tutor’s point of view. This needs to be done because online learning is being carried out now and into the future. UT needs to maximize online learning media to ensure access to quality higher education.
