Abstract
This work-in-progress research studies the printmaking as social and communal practice in the Philippines from the 1970s to present. Through this paper, I explore the question, how has traditional printmaking sustained communities of exchange and how then might it serve as a transformative practice in a technologically-advancing and ever-changing world? Grounded in art historical research on printmaking in the Philippines, this study seeks to deepen knowledge on contemporary printmaking as a community-building art practice.
