Abstract
In the Global/Local current divide, an interesting series of complexities emerge and some of them can be relevant topics for artistic research. This paper specifically addresses some possibilities for artistic research in rural contexts, presenting a case study of multidisciplinary artistic research done by connecting two specific rural locations and by using the concept of boundary objects to imagine an artistic third place. The end result was a mixed-media installation that sought to problematize ultra-localist narratives of uniqueness. This case study reveals how rural areas share common challenges that might benefit from a framework of inter-localist dialogue.
