Abstract

In this concise workshop, participants will embark on a creative journey using collage techniques to examine heritage and historical resources in visual arts. The workshop begins with an introduction to the profound role of heritage in art, emphasizing its capacity to inspire and reflect cultural richness. Attendees will explore how artists have historically drawn from heritage to create meaningful works. Central to the workshop is a hands-on college experience. Participants are encouraged to bring their own historical artifacts, photographs, or documents, which they will incorporate into collages. Guided by skilled facilitators, attendees will experiment with collage techniques like layering, juxtaposition, and mixed media. As participants engage in artistic expression, they will discover the collage’s unique ability to convey stories and emotions tied to historical narratives. The workshop encourages collaboration and discussion, enabling participants to share their creations and insights. By the workshop’s end, attendees will have honed their collage skills and gained a deeper understanding of heritage’s role in shaping visual narratives. This interactive session promises to inspire artists and enthusiasts, fostering a greater appreciation for our shared history through the evocative medium of collage.
