Abstract
This study investigates the sociohistorical basis of modern cinema in Brazil to understand the development of a Brazilian cinematographic thought. To do this, the film Terra em transe (1967), by Glauber Rocha, is taken as an analytic object to explore the following questions: what kind of notion of authorship is established in this film? How can this filmmaker be responsible for the work of collective conversion in the ways of perception and comprehension of a specific cinema made in Brazil? With these questions as a starting point, this work aims to understand how Terra em transe is able to inscribe ideas, interpretations, theses and a social thought about Brazil.
